Gallup Finland, December 2005: more than 630.000 capital region residents want to keep Malmi Airport in aviation use

Commissioned by the leading Finnish daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, Gallup Finland studied in December 2005 the opinion of capital region residents regarding the future of Malmi Airport. The results were published in Helsingin Sanomat on 9 January 2006 (page A13).

1000 interviews were made in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. The sample represents the adult population of the capital region, and the error margin of the results is about ±3 percent units at 95% confidence level.

65% of all the interviewed people were in favor of preserving Malmi Airport. In proportion to the population this equals more than 630.000 capital region residents. Supporters of the Airport were by a wide margin the largest group among the voters of every political party included in the poll: more than half of the voters of each party wanted to keep Malmi Airport in aviation use.
