FoMA to appeal the decision of Helsinki Administrative Court to the Supreme Administrative Court
Press release 30 May 2005
Friends of Malmi Airport Society
Helsinki Administrative Court has in its decision on 30 May dismissed the complaint of the Friends of Malmi Airport Society against the City General Plan concerning the area of Malmi Airport. The Society maintains the opinion, however, that the original complaint makes a strong case. In addition, some new arguments have come to the knowledge of the Society, consolidating the intention of the Society to appeal the decision to the Supreme Administrative Court.
The Society points out that the dissenting opinion of the presenting official has been recorded in the decision of Helsinki Administrative Court. The presenting official maintains that the Helsinki General Plan, where it concerns Malmi Airport, is both in contradiction with and against the land use and building law. On these grounds, this part of the General Plan is unlawful.
In addition to the above, the Society maintains that Helsinki Administrative Court has not properly considered all aspects of its complaint.
The Friends of Malmi Airport Society, founded in 2002, aims to support and develop the operational preconditions of the Airport. The Society's Internet petition to save Malmi Airport has already been signed by about 36.000 people.
